This
is a 1979 Honda CBX Model ‘A’ imported to the UK in 1994.
It’s a Japanese built ‘A’ Model because the Frame
Number starts with SC03. The ‘A’ was built both in the US
and Japan.
This one has some modifications from standard; none frivolous and all
in keeping with this great motorcycle.
Firstly the non Honda items:
The Seat – Corbin Gunslinger made in the USA.
The Exhausts – Fully Stainless Steel Pipemasters made in Australia
Everything else on the bike is CBX
CBX Modifications:
Wheels – from a ‘Z’Model (‘A’ Model were
reversed and black)
Clocks – from a ‘C’ Model (American ‘A’
Model speedo only went up to 85mph)
Forks – From a ‘C’ Model (MUCH Stiffer, upgrade from
35mm to 39mm diameter, and air balanced)
Front Brakes – From a ‘C’ Model (Larger diameter vented
rotors, twin pot callipers not single)
The overall effect is a classic CBX, but it doesn’t wobble and
does stop. The exhausts are actually based on the original factory development
CBX, but the Honda bosses told them to tone it down so the production
CBX got 6 into 2’s instead.
